With the two space thing? I was taught to type. Type properly, with home row and everything. I was never that good at doing it without looking, and can't do it on a laptop, but part of the tutorial was two spaces to end a sentence. Despite not having done it for the first three sentences, I just did it for the 4th, it's a habit, it's become ingrained, I can't quite shake it, even though I know it's pointless now.

But I also a) don't think it's ugly and b) don't need to worry about it-HTML won't display a double space anyway, so if I do it by mistake it matters not ;-)

I don't think it looks horrifically ugly, but I think one space looks better than two, and agree with him on the fact that it's unnecessary. I'd say it's a habit worth throwing off, but not one that will cause great woe if that doesn't happen.

'Comment' is my general tag for stuff that I'm linking where someone is expressing a view, rather than it being the reporting of facts, or fairly uncontentious analysis and (to me at least) it carries an side comment/implication of 'I don't necessarily totally agree with this.'
