With the two space thing? I was taught to type. Type properly, with home row and everything. I was never that good at doing it without looking, and can't do it on a laptop, but part of the tutorial was two spaces to end a sentence. Despite not having done it for the first three sentences, I just did it for the 4th, it's a habit, it's become ingrained, I can't quite shake it, even though I know it's pointless now.
But I also a) don't think it's ugly and b) don't need to worry about it-HTML won't display a double space anyway, so if I do it by mistake it matters not ;-)
