Thanks for linking to the New Statesman piece on the Assange matter. Such a relief to finally read something sensible and seemingly impartial on the issue, not to mention something concerned with actual legal positions rather than opinionated ranting. Too bad the majority of the commenters obviously assumed that the 'zombie facts' comment didn't apply to them.

And nice that it both comprehensive covers everything, and lists its sources; due to chatting about it in the office I've been aware of several of those things, but when pointing them out to people of FB, not had the links to back myself up.

Absolutely. I've not been aware of much of the legal position, but whenever I've raised one of those points as a question, or seen those sorts of questions raised online, (e.g. is it legally possible for them to interview him in the UK/embassy) the usual response has been 'I don't actually know, but still, let me make up something irrelevantly speculative...'
