Unless the landlord is outright lying (and as a PR person you'd think she'd have the sense not to do that) then it's not an eviction, the tenants chose not to renew the lease. Kind of irritating for people who have actually been forced out of their homes for the olympics (like my sister who has actually been kicked out of her Stratford flat) as stories like this dilute credibility and empathy.

That said, we don't know what the terms of the new lease were. It could have had (like ours) a massive price hike which prohibited renewal. Anyway, the lack of information smacks of lazy journalism just trading off a sensational headline.

Did you read the comments on the 'eviction' story? The agents have his girlfriend on tape saying they were not renewing the lease - absolutely no eviction, just a decision by the toad to move on.
