Is this just a London thing? Pretty much every other city I've been too in this country allows all forms of taxis, not just licensed hackney carriages, to use bus lanes.

And rightly so in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of London black cab taxis, but I don't see why they should be the only taxis allowed into bus lanes.

I'd actually be far more in favour of kicking buses out of bus lanes and making the lanes taxi lanes. While there are such things as bus lanes in the world holding me, a road fund license paying private car driver, up I'll never let buses pull out.
