I'm really surprised about City of Heroes. It went free to play and made a TON of money, and was held up as the example of how this can work. And the fans are loyal (already got a 100,000 petition up to keep it running).
I enjoyed it a lot just before and after it went F2P, can't imagine why NCsoft would drop it: does Guild Wars 2 need the extra staff that urgently or something?
