Currently debating between a Nexus 4 and a Samsung S3.

The former has the more up to date OS with extra features, and is the base assumed thing, so stuff will be more compatible. The latter has probably somewhat better speed, and more importantly, has space.

I'd likely go for the Nexus in a shot if it weren't for the un-expandable 16GB space.

I'm still leaning towards it, but using it will likely involve space-juggling at times, which is a bit annoying. My main space-user on the iPhone was music, and now I've switched to Spotify I'm using less, and I can adjust to working with a smaller space to play with. Just makes me wish they had a card slot, or a 32GB option. I suppose another advantage of the Nexus 4 will be that it should be kept up to date with the OSs as thing progress for a fair while, whereas the moment Samsung feel it's not worth their money to recode an Android update for the S3, they'll stop doing so.

This is an advantage of the iPhones; I've got iOS 6 on my three and a half year old 3GS. The same is very much not true of similarly old Android phones.
