  A leaked letter to David Cameron from the office of his own minister Eric Pickles has warned that George Osborne's welfare cuts to housing benefit could make 40,000 families homeless. The letter also warns that, rather than reducing the deficit, the plan announced by Chancellor George Osborne last October is likely to end up costing the government more.
